About Us
The Good Shepherd was birthed from hearts and a vision for unity, helping and giving. Some 50 years ago, two Community ministers from distinct religious denominations broke tradition by exchanging ministry pulpits to promote an opportunity to unite their community of faith. Following this tradition other spiritual leaders joined in and continued the initiatives. The Organization was officially named The Good Shepherds which was comprised of local pastors of diverse religious/denominational affiliations.
The present Organization, renamed The Good Shepherd Association, has continued these Initiatives for the past 20+ years. From the start of two Churches to well over 25 supporting Churches, ministries and community volunteers, The Good Shepherd Association still focuses on programs, projects and events that foster unity, fund raising and “Giving Help and Building Hope”.
The funds raised are utilized to assist those on the margins of life through grants for utility service assistance, housing and emergency crises assistance. The organization has expanded services to also provide administrative assistance and infrastructural assistance to new and emerging community organizations, while keeping is focus on building up the community.
